Recommended Wiring to Connect 4-Way on Tow Vehicle with 6-Way on Jayco Pop Up Camper

Question:

Hello, I just purchased a 1994 jayco pop up 1006. I am looking for the wiring for the trailer lights and battery wires for dc power in the camper. What I have now is the flat 4 pin end that hooks to the car, then a 6 pin end that plugs into the trailer on the tongue with 2 wires that come off on the wire harness that would hook to a battery for DC power. Wondering if you sell this product. Happy to send a picture of it if that would help. Thanks

If you only need a harness to power the basic lighting functions on your Jayco trailer, then you can use the Tow Ready Adapter 4 Way Flat to 6 Way Square # 30104. This adapter is designed specifically for Jayco wiring and will allow you to connect the 4-way on your vehicle to the 6-way on your camper.

To gain connections and power for other features such as reverse lights and battery charge, I instead recommend removing the connector on the trailer and installing a 7-way like # H20042. When wiring the harness on the trailer, make sure to follow the color coding mentioned on the product page.

Then for the vehicle, I recommend using the Hopkins Adapter # 37185. This will plug into your existing 4-way to provide a 7-way connector. Once connected, you will have 4 wires remaining. The purple wire will tap into the reverse light circuit on your vehicle. The white wire is for ground and the black wire is used to provide the 12-volt power for your trailer accessories. You can use additional 10 gauge wire # 10-1-1 to run the length needed to reach the positive battery terminal. The circuit will need to be protected with a 40 amp circuit breaker # 9510. The blue wire is for brake output circuit and will not be needed.
