The best choice of hitch is whatever you need for your trailer. With that being said, gooseneck trailer's are more common in agricultural or commercial applications where fifth wheels are more the recreational side. You generally get a smoother ride with a fifth wheel trailer.

If you're unsure which you will need or could possibly need both I suggest the B&W Companion. It uses a gooseneck underbed hitch # BWGNRK1394 that a fifth wheel hitch # BWRVK3500 can be added to. Not only will you be able to tow either type of trailer but you'll also have one of the most highly regarded hitches on the market.
