Recommended Weight Distribution System for 2000 GMC Yukon Towing 22 Foot Travel Trailer
Question:
I am in the late stages of restoring a 22 foot travel trailer. http://edwinbrown.net/Coastbilt/ if youd like to see pictures. Its single axle. As it currently stands, dry and missing some things, the axle carries about 3400 pounds. All up I expect it to be 4,000-4200. It has a two inch ball. My tow vehicle is a 2000 GMC Yukon Denali with factory hitch, rated for 500 pounds deadweight and 650 with load equalizing hitch. Im having some work done on it so I cant yet be certain, but I expect tongue weight to be 500-600 pounds. I have some options to move stuff if necessary to stay below 600. I do want/need sway control. What one or two hitches would you recommend for my application? Thank you

To choose the correct weight distribution system you need to add your trailer's loaded and ready to tow tongue weight to the amount of weight you'll have stored behind the rear axle of your 2000 GMC Yukon.
If your total tongue weight between the loaded trailer and Yukon is over 800 pounds then you'll need a system like the Reese Steadi-Flex # RP66559. It's rated up to 1,000 pounds tongue weight and uses similar brackets and friction pads to the SC.
