Will Blue Ox Patriot Braking System Drain Battery on Honda Fit

Im towing a Honda Fit. Ive heard the Patriot will drain the battery. How can I keep that from happening?

The Blue Ox Patriot Portable Braking System # BLU37TR referenced in your question will be powered by your Honda Fit's battery, so if you will be towing for long periods of time or if the vehicle is not started periodically, it's possible that the battery can be drained.

I recommend checking the owner's manual for your Honda Fit for any guidelines or steps that need to be taken before flat towing. Many vehicles will require that the battery be disconnected for this reason.

If you find that you are towing long enough that the battery is draining, you can add the Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit # RM-156-25. The kit will allow up to 15 amps from your RV's battery to be used to maintain the charge of your Honda Fit's battery while the vehicle is being towed.
