Is it Easy to Move Prodigy RF Controller to New Vehicle
Question:
I currently have a 2014 Toyota Highlander XLE. I purchased a forest river 19 ft camper and the dealer did two things for installation. They put a Tekonsha Prodigy wireless brake controller on the camper with handhelp unit pluging into the accessory port. They also needed to change the 4 pin flat to a 7 pin connector. I can see how the added two power lines + and - with a breaker under the hood. What I cant tell is what / how they handled the brake controller sensing. I am now purchasing a 2017 toy highlander with 4 pin flat again and need to ensure they install this correctly. Where and/or do they need to tie into the brake sensing from the car? Is that on the brake pedal? The taillights? and what if it now has LED taillights? Your help is much appreciated. Thanks

The Prodigy RF controller # TK94FR doesn't need to be wired into your vehicle at all. Since it pairs to the remote that comes with it basically is always ready to go as long as it is connected to a 7-way that has a 12 volt power source completed and has all of the trailer lighting functions working.
If you have a 7-way installed in the new vehicle all you have to do is put the remote of the controller in it and you'll be ready to go.
