Converters For Separating Or Combining Signals For Trailer Wiring
Question:
Hi, We are a caravan RV manufacturer is Brisbane AUS and are now exporting to the US.... I have been sent a 3 wire to 2 wire convertor to allow me to build a test kit so each van can be tested prior to dispatch... The way I assume that the convertor works is, when the vehicle puts 12v : On the green RHS wire you will get 12v out from the convertor to the light On the yellow LHS wire you will get 12v out from the convertor to the light, and, When you apply 12v to the red wire, the convertor will appy 12v to both the yellow AND the green wire causing BOTH to light and act as brake lights. Is this correct? There were no instructions with the unit, and at this point I have not managed to get any output at all from the convertor. Im actually pretty sure that the unit that was sent is faulty and sourcing one locally is not an option unfortunately!

We have two different types of converters. One takes a combined stop and turn signal and separates it out so you have a left turn, right turn, and stop light feature. This converter is the Vehicle to Vehicle Tail Light Converter # 118158. This will use 12V on all wires.
The other type is a converter that takes separtate signals and combines the running/marker lights with the tail lights like the Hopkins Tail Light Converter Kit with 4-Way Flat Connector - LED Compatible # HM48895
