Left Tail Light Is Not Working On Utility Trailer

Question:

Wired up and every thing works but the left tail light does not come on for any function? Is it the ground?

You can use a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 to check the pins on the trailer connector. Have someone run through the functions to make sure the connector is good.

Most of the time we find the culprit is the ground. Many lights are grounded through the mounting hardware and corrosion, or dirt can cause the problem. If the light is grounded through the mounting hardware, you want to make sure it is attached to a clean bare metal surface.

If your light is grounded with a separate wire, you will want to make sure it is securely mounted to a clean metal surface. If there is anything between a light ground and the metal trailer frame or if the trailer has an aluminum frame, tilt bed, or folding tongue, any of these things can interrupt the ground.

You can also run jumper wires from the ground wires on the lights to the main trailer connector ground.
