Recommended Brake Controller For 2010 Lexus RX450R With Tow Package

Question:

Hi, I have a 2010 Lexus RX450h with the trailer package. My dealer cant tell me if the wiring is in place for a brake controller. I dont want to run a wire from the from to the back of the vehicle. Do you know if Lexus includes the brake circuit wire with the trailer package. If not, should I use a wireless controller? Thanks

On your 2010 Lexus RX450h, there is not a wire run for you from the dash to the rear connector. I recommend using the Tekonsha Prodigy RF Wireless Trailer Brake Controller - 1 to 3 Axles - Proportional # TK94FR you mentioned. This is a proportional brake controller that will apply the brakes on your trailer at the same time and with the same amount of force as you hit the brake pedal in your Lexus. This controller automatically adjust trailer braking based on deceleration. The unit uses the brake light signal from your trailer connection and the internal inertia sensor to activate your trailer brakes. This system still has the constant diagnostics, 3 boost levels, and digital display on your remote. There is still a manual override as well. This is a great option for your vehicle because it has multiplex wiring.
