Question:

i have a chevy 2500 hd 05 drawtite 11 5500 the controller stopped recognizing the brakes when you mashed the brake petal but did recognize the manuel brake . no decipal when you mashed the brake petal . i found that taking the light blue wire loose from the 7 way connector and connecting it directly to the cold side of the brale light switch it would recognize the decipal point when you pushed down the brake petal but it doesnt seem to matter how strong the breaks react whether the number is on 2 or 8 the trailor brakes dont seem to work strong enough what gives

If your controller is operating only when using the manual switch, you will need to do some troubleshooting on the controller.

Use a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 on the red wire exiting the rear of the controller while the brake pedal is being pressed. You should be showing voltage on this wire. If you are showing no voltage, you most likely have a blown fuse. Access the power distribution box under the hood and locate the fuse for the CHMSL circuit. The underside of the lid to the power box should have a diagram showing the fuse locations. Replace the fuse if it is blown.

If you are showing voltage on that red wire, but the controller will not actuate the trailer brakes unless the manual switch is used, your controller may need replacing.
