Recommended Trunk Mount Bike Rack for a 2017 Ford Escape Titanium

Question:

Hey champs! Ive got a 2017 Ford Escape Titanium and it seems that none of the trunk bike racks fit the Titanium. Just curious what the difference is between the other escape models and the Titanium that makes the trunk bike racks not fit? Any suggestions on bike racks under $250ish? Thanks in advance for your help!!

It looks like the 2016 version of the Ford Escape Titanium has some plastic fascia at the bottom of the rear hatch which prevents a trunk mounted bike rack from fitting. That must have changed with the 2017 version because when I called my contact at Yakima, he said that they have tested and approved some trunk mounted bike racks for a 2017 Ford Escape Titanium.

The trunk mount bike rack that I recommend for you to use on your Escape is the Yakima FullBack. This comes in a 2 Bike Rack version, part # Y02634, and a 3 Bike Rack version, part # Y02633. The FullBack is easy to install and provides a safe and secure way to haul your bikes. The SuperCush cradles have a 3-point anti-sway feature which helps to prevent your bike from rocking back and forth and possibly hitting your other bikes or the back of your Escape.

The reason that I recommend the FullBack over other options is because it comes with more security features. It has a steel-reinforced security cable which you put inside your trunk to secure the bike rack, and it has an integrated cable lock to deter theft of your bikes from the bike rack. You can haul up to 2 bikes that are 35 lbs a piece, but when you carry 3 bikes, you are limited to a weight limit of 90 lbs.

If you have any bikes that use an alternative women's or children's frame then I also recommend using the Yakima Tube top Bike Adapter Bar # Y02531. This adapter will allow you to haul your bikes level to the ground for better clearance plus give them a more stable ride.
