Overall Length and Slide Length of HitchMate Hitch Steps, part # HE4045

Question:

I have read in several paces on your web site that the Heininger Hitchmate 4045 extends 23 1/2 inches from the face of the hitch receiver. Yet, I also read where it only extends 12 1/2 inches. Even if you add 6 inches for the step pad, Im seeing only 18 1/2 inches. Help!

I went out to our warehouse, and pulled one of the HitchMate Hitch Steps, part # HE4045 off the shelf. When fully extended, the hitch step is 23-1/2 inches long, when measured rearward from the face of the hitch receiver. It slides a total of 12-1/2 inches which is a separate measurement. I believe that's where the confusion lies.
