Can Shorter Blades Be Used On AirrForce Hugger Style RV Ceiling Fan  

I have a really nice 40foot diesel pusher motor coach and I want to install a ceiling fan in it . I would like a smaller diameter then 42, perhaps 36. I believe the measurement is across from blade to blade tip, please confirm thats how they measure these, as in home ceiling fans. Questions: 1. Can I purchase smaller blades 2. can the fan be installed w/out the light so I can save space from the ceiling? Thank you -
