Trunk Mount Bike Rack Recommendation for a 2016 Honda Civic

Question:

I got a brand new Honda Civic after owning a pickup for years . We love to take our mountain bikes on vaction and to areas around the state of South Carolina. I have looked at both of these Trunk mount 2 bike racks that list for about the same price both around 150 bucks . I picky and dont want to scratch up the car with the bike or the rack which do you recommend? I look forward to doing business with us guys .

Trunk mount bike racks are going to make contact with your 2016 Honda Civic in several locations no matter which one you go with. Technically the Saris Bones # SA805BL will make slightly less contact that the other options so I would go with it if you do go with a trunk mount rack.

You can reduce the chance of the rack marring the vehicle finish by making sure it and the rack are clean where they make contact with each other. A coat of wax on the vehicle where the rack makes contact will also provide further protection.

If you will be carrying any bikes that do not have a top frame bar that goes straight across (like a typical men's bike would) then I recommend using bike adapter bar # 64005. This will allow you to carry those bikes more level and will provide better ground clearance. I have linked a video showing how the adapter works.
