Rear Helper Spring Recommendations for a 2016 Ram 3500 with Factory 5th Wheel Prep Package
Question:
I have a 2016 Ram 3500 cummins Heavy Duty I use to pull a 5th wheel several times a year, the tongue weight is right at 3000 lbs adding me and the wife and a few items were more than likely pushing around 3800 in just payload, maybe a little less than that just a quick guess, my pay load is around 4100 lbs so i have a little room as far as weight would part # TDR3500ca the system I would need to help me for a better ride.? If not what would you recommend ? I also have the factory 5th wheel package installed will this system bolt in with no interference from that package ? Thanks.

First, Timbren rear helper springs # TDR3500CA will bolt on to the bottoms of the frame on your 2016 Ram 3500 and will not interfere with the factory 5th wheel prep package. The Timbren springs will help with sagging when the truck is loaded/towing and take the strain off of the factory suspension. The ride can be more stiff when the Timbren springs are engaged.
For a system that you can adjust to get the ride quality and support to your liking I recommend air bags such as Firestone kit # F2615 for a 4x4 or # F2616 for 2-wheel drive models. Please note these kits will not fit if the truck has the factory air assist system.
You can add an on-board compressor to adjust air pressure to both bags at the same time, # F2158, or to each bag individually using # F2178.
