Recommended Fastway Weight Distribution System for 5,500 Pound Trailer
Question:
I am interested Fastway e2 Weight Distribution w/ 2-Point Sway Control My travel trailer specs from their website are GVWR = 5480 lbs Hitch Weight = 400 lbs UVW = 3031 lbs CCC = 2449 While I probably normally run closer to the UVV then the GVWR it is a small toy hauler so at time I may have an ATV in there which would increase the weight by 1k lbs or so. So basically need one that is flexible for weights between 3100 to 5500 lbs Can you tell me which fastway would be the proper one for me? Thank you

When choosing a weight distribution system, the most important factor to consider is the total tongue weight of your setup. The total tongue weight will include the loaded tongue weight of your trailer along with any added weight behind the rear axle of your tow vehicle. Ideally, you will want the total tongue weight to fall somewhere around the middle of the weight capacity range on the system you choose.
The Fastway e2 Weight Distribution w/ 2-Point Sway Control # FA94-00-0800 should be perfect for your trailer. This system has a weight capacity range of 400-800 pounds. Considering that the dry hitch weight of your trailer is 400 pounds, we can most likely estimate that another 200 pounds or so will be added to that weight during a typical trip. This will account for the loaded tongue weight as well as anything added behind the rear axle of your tow vehicle. The 400-800 pound weight range gives you some nice wiggle room.
The 2 integrated points of sway control on this system will limit side-to-side movement of the trailer and steel-on-steel friction will help to minimize sway. I have attached a video demonstration on this product for you to check out.
You will just need to add a compatible hitch ball like the Tow Ready # 63840 with a 2-5/16 inch diameter, if you do not have one already.
