Alternate Installation Method for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Underbed Installation Kit 2006 Ford F-250

Question:

I talked to a hitch installer for about this kit and was told he would not do it because it required lifting the bed of the truck to get the rails in. Looking at the instruction sheet it says that the metal flange on the bed could be bent our instead of raising the bed. Have you experienced this, and can I just bend the flange? This will be installed on a 2006 F-250 super duty 4x4.

Actually, we have a video in which our installer does talk about making cuts if the bed cannot be loosened for any reason. I have included a link to the video for you to view. It is recommended that if the bed cannot be loosened then the metal be cut and not bent. Just bending it may not allow enough clearance to get the rails in for Under-Bed Rail and Installation Kit, # RP30073.
