Recommendation for a Trailer Hitch Mount Platform Bike Rack to Clear Spare Tire, 2010 Toyota RAV4
Question:
Will the Thule Pro XTR work on a 2010 Toyota Rav4 without the bike hitting the spare tire cover. If it will not work, what racks do you have that are similar that will work. I have a curt 13509 class 3 hitch.

The first thing you will want to do is measure from the center of the hitch pin hole out to the distance require to clear the spare tire carrier. I do know that on a 2008 Toyota RAV4 and Curt Hitch # 13509, this distance is 8 inches.
The shank on the Thule Pro XTR Bike Rack # TH83JV is 7 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the curved bracket. It seems that this will be a tight fit and some contact may occur between the bikes and the spare tire carrier.
Instead, I recommend the Yakima HoldUp 2 Bike Hitch Mounted Folding Rack, # Y02443. This rack measures 12 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the nearest bike tray. I have included installation details and/or video reviews for each of these bike racks for reference.
