Recommended Weight Distribution System for Prowler Lynx Trailer with 360 Pounds of Tongue Weight
Question:
I have a prowler Lynx 21foot trailer. It sits at the dealer over the winter. Im going to be picking it up in soon. I want a weight distribution hitch with sway control. The tung weight on the trailer is 360 pounds Add 150 for cargo behind tow vehicle. What hitch do you recommend. Do I need to get measurements of the trailers hitch width of channel, length of hitch from the trailer body etc?. And is the one available where you can back up without unhooking the sway control? Thanks for your help.

If the 360 pounds of tongue weight is with the trailer loaded and ready to tow then I suggest the Reese Steadi-Flex # RP66558. It's rated from 400 to 600 pounds tongue weight and you'll fall right in the middle. The Steadi-Flex uses automotive style friction pads for sway control and doesn't use chains. You'll need a hitch ball with a 1 inch shank. Use # 63845 for a 2 inch ball or # 63847 for a 2-5/16 inch ball.
If your trailer will be heavier when you're towing it and you need a heavier rated system look at the Equal-i-zer # EQ37100ET. It also does not use chains and uses friction for sway control. This system is rated from 600 to 1,000 pounds.
Both systems allow you to back up without disconnecting them.
