Is the Curt Q25 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # C16069 Compatible With Bed Mounted Rails

Will this only work in conjunction with the GMC towing prep package or can it be modified and used with bed mounted rails??

Since your 2017 GMC Sierra 3500 has a 6-1/2 foot bed, you will want to use the Curt Q24 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # C16546 instead. This hitch is a slider so it will help you with turning clearance and it works with industry standard rails, like part # C16411-204.

Even though the 5th Wheel Hitch # C16546 says Q24 on it, it is essentially the same hitch as the Q25 that comes on the 5th Wheel Hitch # C16069. The 24 stands for 24,000 lbs and the 25 stands for 25,000 lbs. Even if you wanted to use the Q25 with the sliding rails it would be pointless because the sliding rails are only rated for 24,000 lbs.

If you don't already have a 7-Way Wiring Harness in the bed of your Sierra I recommend using the Curt Wiring Harness # C56070.
