Measuring Clearance For Bike Carrier At Back Of 2000 Jeep Wrangler With Rear Mounted Spare

Question:

I have a 2000 Jeep Wrangler. I am trying to determine if a Kuat Sherpa 2 will fold up due to the spare tire being mounted on the rear. There are two holes on the hitch . Is the locking pin for the Sherpa2, 5/8inch or 1/2inch in diameter?

I have attached a helpful article that explains how you can measure to make sure any hitch-mounted accessory will clear the spare tire on your 2000 Wrangler.

Once you get the measurement for your Jeep you can check out the distance the Sherpa, part # SH22G needs for clearance. That distance is 7-1/2 inches form the center of the hitch pin when the bike carrier is folded up. When it is folded down the distance form the center of the hitch pin to the carrier is 11 inches.
