Parts Needed to Install 7-Way on 1991 Ford Van with 4-Way and Brake Controller Recommendation

Question:

I have a 1991 Ford E250 van that has a 4 pin trailer harness installed. I need to add a brake controller for my new utility trailer. I did a search and it appears I need product ETB7 the universal installation kit. I also need to know if the Tekonsha 90885 Prodigy P2 brake controller would be okay with my van. Overall, are both of these okay to be installed in my van? Thanks.

You are on the right track. The correct kit needed to convert your 4-way to a 7-way to install a brake controller is the part # ETBC7. It comes with everything needed to make the conversion and install the controller. I attached an install video for this for you to check out as well.

For a brake controller I would recommend the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller part # 90885. This is our best selling brake controller because of how well it works and how easy it is to setup. This is a proportional brake controller that senses the amount of braking the tow vehicle is applying and applies a proportionate amount to the trailer brakes.
