For a brake controller I would recommend the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller part # 90885. This is our best selling brake controller because of how well it works and how easy it is to setup. This is a proportional brake controller that senses the amount of braking the tow vehicle is applying and applies a proportionate amount to the trailer brakes.

Some models do have the brake (blue) and hot lead (orange or red) wires already ran from under the hood to the end of the driver side frame rail. However, these wires are hard to access and additional wire will still be needed. Part # ETBC7 is recommended, which includes all of the wiring and hardware needed to hard wire a brake controller on your 1999 GMC Suburban. Check out the install video for more info as well.
