Weight Distribution System to Replace Older Pro Series Kit to Allow Dual Cam Sway Control Install
Question:
I would like to purchase the Reese Dual Cam Sway Control system but my current WD System has the wrong style spring bars. Can I purchase replacement spring bars that would work with my current hitch? It is a Pro Series 63970. My pickup is a 2010 Ford F-150 FX 4 with rear lockers and when I looked up the code it has the lower gear ratio and an 8500 to 9000 lbs towing capability. My trailer is a 30 ft Forest River Surveyor 295QBLE with a GVWR of 7777 lbs. I think everything is in the correct range but I would like your opinion. It pulls great except the occasional wind gust or truck passing and the friction sway control I bought doesnt do much to help at all with that. Most the time I dont even put it on. Does the dual cam system limit turning radius, like for backing into a camping spot? Sometimes they can get a little tight to get into.

What you will need to do is buy a Strait Line system that doesn't have a shank since that's really the only part of your setup that will be re-usable. The rest is old enough that newer parts aren't available for.
For that you would want the part # RP66074 which comes with spring bars rated for 600-1,200 lbs tongue weight and the dual cam sway control you want.
With this system and basically all WD systems you really can only back up mainly in a straight line. If you get into too tight of a turn the spring bar will fall out or bend.
