Will the Thule OutWay Pro Trunk Bike Rack Fit a 2015 BMW X1 with Rear Spoiler

Question:

Hi all, Im trying to mount the Thule OutWay 2 on my BMW X1, but it does not seem to fit, even if it is reported to. Problem is, there is a plastic spoiler on the back, right at the top of the trunk, where I'm supposed to place the top hooks. This means I should be placing the hooks on the plastic, but I think that would break my car, if I put a bike on it. Any clue?

Yes, that spoiler does appear to be an issue on your 2015 BMW X1. I do not recommend using the Thule OutWay # TH45JV to avoid any damage to the spoiler. There is an option though. I recommend the Hollywood Racks Over-the-Top rack # HRF2. This rack has an additional upper arm piece that moves the top straps up and over that spoiler so no weight is put on it (since the spoiler is not meant to support weight). I have included a link to a video that shows how it works. (Note it does also work if the vehicle does not have any sort of roof rack.)

If you will be carrying any bikes that do not have a top frame bar that goes straight across (like a typical men's bike would) then I recommend using bike adapter bar # 64005. This will allow you to carry those bikes more level and will provide better ground clearance. I have linked a video showing how the adapter works.
