Companion Hitch Recommendation for Short Bed Truck and Cushioned Pin Box for Lippert 1621

Question:

hi recently installed a BandW fixed hitch companion and i have a short box pick up, my question is what are my choices in king pin boxes for my trailer? i was looking at the Sidewinder although they claim it will not work with the BandW hitch, if thats the case maybe a good Lippert model with some sort of cushioned pin? any suggestions would be appreciated

You are correct, a Sidewinder cannot be used with a B and W Companion hitch that attaches to a gooseneck hitch. Sidewinders require the hitch to be attached to the truck in the four corners of the hitch.

You would have to either keep the Lippert 1621 you have or go with a cushioned one like the Lippert Flex Air # LC328492 which is a fit for your pin box.

So the issue you are still going to have is the fact that you have a short bed truck and a stationary fifth wheel hitch. You are going to have to swap that hitch out for a slider Companion otherwise you won't have the needed clearance to make tight turns. For that you would need the # BWRVK3400.
