Depending on the style of your truck, there are a couple options available for installing bed rails for a fifth-wheel hitch in your 2008 Dodge Ram 1500.
First, if your truck is a Mega Cab model, you could use custom rail and bracket installation kit # RP50140-58. This kit would require the least drilling, as it is custom-fit to the truck, but this kit is only compatible with Mega Cab models. You can view the installation instructions at the link provided.
If the truck is not a Mega Cab model, you could use custom kit # RP50040-58. This kit will work on your truck as long as it does not have a Flareside or Stepside bed. I am including a link to the installation instructions, as well as some additional information on fifth-wheel towing in general for you to reference.
I would recommend custom fifth-wheel wiring # HM42137 to install a 7-Way plug in the bed of the truck. This would allow you to retain the use of the factory 7-Way plug in the rear of the truck.
