Electric Over Hydraulic Actuators Compatible With DOT 5 Brake Fluid

Question:

Looking to convert a M353 military trailer to EOH brakes. Would the 1000 psi dexter actuator provide enough pressure? Your site suggests a hydrastar 1200 psi unit is used but they are not compatible with the DOT5 brake fluid used in these trailers. The dexter unit accepts DOT5.

The Dexter Electric Over Hydraulic Brake Actuator - 1,000 psi # K71-650 will provide enough pressure for drum brake applications. If your application is disc brakes, you will want the Dexter Electric Over Hydraulic Brake Actuator - 1,600 psi # K71-651. Dexter is the only company that confirms the use of DOT 5 with their actuators and I've attached a photo from their service manual showing compatibility.
