Roof Rack and Fit of Thule Force XT Cargo Box on 2017 Subaru Outback Touring with Flush Side Rails  

Question:

I have a 2017 Subaru Outback Touring with the lower roof rails. Will the TH6358B fit and not interfere with the tail gate opening?

By lower roof rails do you mean that your 2017 Subaru Outback Touring has the flush side rails that run front to back but not crossbars that run side to side? If so then first thing you will need is a roof rack. I really like the design and quality of the Thule roof rack which includes the following parts:

47" WingBar Evo Crossbars - # TH711220
Evo Flush Rail Feet - # TH710601
Fit Kit - # TH186047
Lock Core Kit - # TH450400

This roof rack mounts to fixed mounting points on the side rails. Locate the forward mounting point on the vehicle and measure from the center of it straight back to the nearest part of the opened hatch. If that distance is greater than 51-1/8 inches then Force XT cargo box # TH6358B will fit.
