Your 2002 Dakota can be flat-towed. I did some research and found the recreational towing instructions on page 202 of the owner's manual. There are restrictions and instructions you will need to follow in order to tow your truck.
You will need several items when you want to tow your Dakota. First you will need base plates. I recommend the Demco Base Plate kit, part # DM9518037.
For a tow bar I recommend the Excali-Bar, part # DM9511013. This comes with safety cables.
If you plan on towing the Dakota pretty often The lighting kit I recommend is part # RM-154. If you will only be towing occasionally you may be interested in lights like part # RM-2120.
You will also need a supplemental brake system like part # SM99251. This is a proportional brake system that applies the brakes on the towed vehicle with the same intensity as the brakes in the towing vehicle.
