Blown Fuse on Brake Controller Brake Light Circuit when wiring a 2007 Chevy Suburban

Question:

I have installed a brake controller using the 4 blunt cut wires provided under the dash. The control works manually when I slide the control lever, but not when the brake pedal is pushed. I hooked up the two wires under the hood to the studs on the fuse block as directed. It seems like the needed 12V signal is not being provided on the light blue wire. I checked for a voltage here, while applying the brakes and my test light didnt light. Is there a way to correct this?

My first reaction is that you might have a blown fuse. There is a fuse in the power distribution box labled AUX that provides power to the Light blue wire with white tracer on the the 2007 Chevrolet Suburban. If this fuse is blown the brake light switch wire will not have power. Since all of the other functions are working properly this sounds like the problem.

When testing the brake controller make sure you have a trailer connected to get the proper readings. Sometimes with the proportional controllers the readings are not correct without the trailer connected. Using a test light like you have is the best way to test. Voltmeters tend to give false readings at times too.
