When should you inflate the air bag, before or after hooking to truck?

You will want to have the truck connected to the trailer when inflating the air bag of the Trailair part # LC158778 so that you can determine what the proper pressure will be to get it sitting where it needs to be.
If you are asking about whether or not the bag itself prefers to be inflated with the load of the trailer on it or not that would not matter. The bag will inflate just fine with a trailer connected. The load would not affect anything or change the pressure.
