Wire Gauge Required to Pass 150-Amps a distance of 15-Feet

Question:

what is the recommended wire gauge from vehicle battery 12 volt to CTEK dual 250 to house battery 12 volts the distant from vehicle battery to house battery 15 feet which I was thinking of using 4 awg cable for that span? The house battery is two 12volt agm battery set in a parallel configuration. The question is the 4 gauge cable with 150 amp fuse proficient for the 15 feet wire span Im worry about volt and if the gauge cable is big enough. Should I use 2 gauge instead?

Expert Reply:

The wire gauge recommended for passing 150-amps of current a distance of 15-feet is indeed 4-gauge. This wire can actually handle passing that current up to a 20-foot distance. Of course, more conductor is always better in terms of power delivery, but your 4-gauge wire will be up to the task.
