Tekonsha Prodigy RF Wireless Brake Controller Pairing With 2008 VW Touareg
Question:
I am going to be picking up a new Airstream trailer and having a RF Prodigy Brake Controller installed at the dealer in a few weeks. In doing a search on this website, and others, I have read many users comments about difficulties pairing the RF Prodigy with the electronics of the VW/Audi/Porsche vehicles. I have a 2008 VW Touareg. Can you please provide a technical bulletin type procedure for insuring that the Touareg will pair with the RF brake controller? Thanks so much for your response.

The Tekonsha Prodigy RF Wireless Trailer Brake Controller - 1 to 3 Axles - Proportional # TK94FR shouldn't need a relay like some of the other models you mentioned because it is a wireless unit. I have attached the FAQ article about those vehicles to assist. The only other issue I've heard is that sometimes there isn't enough draw on the system, so a work around is to use the Trailer Connector Adapter w/ Lamp-Out Sensor Bypass - 7-Way RV to 7-Way RV - Vehicle End # 20142 to increase the load on the system. This is an easy solution that will allow your RF Prodigy receiver to pair with the controller in your 2008 Volkswagen Touareg.
