Hitch Mount Bike Rack for 4-Bikes on the Back of a Travel Trailer Using Curt Bumper Hitch E-100

Question:

We have a 2016 Keystone Hideout 24foot travel trailer. The back bumper which is hollow and stores a sewer hose is 4inch squared. I have a Curt E-100 2hitch that is installed on the bumper. I want to purchase the Thule TH934TR 4 bike rack so I can travel with the grandkids bikes. I would estimate the bikes total at 100 lbs. I read on the internet that this rack should not be installed on a trailer such as mine. What is your opinion.

There are only certain bike racks that are rated for use on the back of an RV or trailer but the Thule Hitching Post Pro # TH934XTR is not one of them so I cannot recommend it. But there are several 4-bike racks that are rated for this application. You can use the Swagman Trailhead # S63381. This rack is most like the Thule. It features a 2-arm design and anti-sway cradles. It is a sturdy build to handle the riggers of being at the back of a trailer.

Other racks that are rated for this application and that hold 4 bikes include the Swagman Original, # S64400, Swagman XP, # S64940, and Yakima LongHaul, # Y02476.

If you will be carrying any bikes that do not have a top frame bar that goes straight across (like a typical men's bike would) then I recommend using bike adapter bar # 64005. This will allow you to carry those bikes more level and will provide better ground clearance. I have linked a video showing how the adapter works.
