On your 2007 Chevrolet Suburban, you will need to make a connection under the hood to activate the power wire for brake controller installation. We have an article that details where the factory wiring is and where to hook it up for you to review, see link.

The brake controller power wire is located under the hood between the power distribution box and the fender, see photo at right. This wire has a ring terminal on the end of it, and needs to be connected to the smaller of the two 12 volt power posts at the front of the power distribution box. An M6 nut, item # 185916 is required to connect the ring terminal to the power post. There should be a 30 amp fuse located in the power distribution box nearest this stud. If not, one can be obtained at your local auto supply.

Once this connection is made, you will have power on the red/black wire under the dash for the brake controller. This wire is connected to the black wire on the brake controller.

You may also need to connect the 12 volt power supply wire for your 7-Way trailer connector. This wire is located under the master cylinder/brake booster assembly and has a ring terminal on it to attach to the larger power stud at the front of the power distribution box, see photo at right. This power post requires an M8 nut, item # 185917, to connect the ring terminal. There should be a 40 amp fuse located in the power distribution box nearest this stud. If not, one can be obtained at your local auto supply.
