Recommended Trailer Wiring Harness For 1997 Volkswagen Eurovan

Question:

I am trying to get a trailer wiring connector for my 1997 VW Eurovan. I found a website that describes how to do it at https://1705.gitlab.io/tralier-wiring, and they list two parts: Hopkins 46255, and Hopkins 47185. You carry the 46255, but not the 47185... What is weird is that you carry a Hopkins 37185, but that is not listed in the Hopkins website. Can you recommend the right product? Is the 37185 compatible with the 47185? Thanks.

The Hopkins trailer wiring that is confirmed as a fit for your 1997 Eurovan is part # 46255. This is a hardwire installation. When installing this on your van I recommend using a circuit tester like part # 3808 so you can make sure you test the wires by function.

The # 37185 will work with the # 46255 4-way trailer harness. The # 37185 has additional wires that are used for brakes, auxiliary power, and accessory wiring. I have attached a photo of the # 37185 with the wires labeled you can check out.

When working with electrical connectors I recommend using dielectric grease like part # 11755. This keeps dirt and moisture out of the electrical connections and helps prevent corrosion.
