Will Exhaust From 2017 Kia Sorento Damage Hitch Mounted Rola Enclosed Cargo Carrier
Question:
Hi. Im thinking about the Rola Tilting Enclosed Cargo Carrier for 2inch Trailer Hitches for my 2017 Kia Sorento. Is the a potential for the exhaust heat to damage the box?

For most hitch mounted items it is always best to have at least twelve inches clearance from the exhaust just to be safe. The Yakima Exo Enclosed Cargo Carrier with the swing-away # Y62VR has a distance from the center of the hitch pin hole to the closest part of this carrier of only 4-1/4" inches. However, I do have a solution for you.
We can begin with the Yakima Exo System Swing Away Hitch Extender - 2" Hitches # Y82VR which is only the rack, but not cargo carrier. Next, we will add the cargo box, Yakima GearLocker Enclosed Cargo Carrier for Modular EXO System - 10 cu ft # Y44VR. If you place this cargo box on the top shelf of the rack, it should be high enough to totally avoid the rack.
Just to be safe you may want to consider an exhaust tip to deflect the heat downward on your Sorento. I have attached a link to our website for the exhaust tips we offer. Just use the filter on the page to find the size tailpipe you have on your Kia.
