Roof Mounted Canoe Carrier Recommendation for a 2009 Hyundai Santa Fe with Factory Roof Rack

Question:

I have a 2009 Hyundai Sante Fe with factory installed carrier. The cross bars are not really strong enough to carry a canoe, I would like to carry two canoes. Do you have a system which would attach to to either the existing longitudinal channels or to the existing cross bars wich would do the job?

We do offer some roof mounted canoe carrier options for your 2009 Hyundai Santa Fe, but they will not increase the carrying capacity of the factory rack on your vehicle. If you have the raised side rails then you can use # RRVA118B-2 and # RRSX100.

The same rule would apply if you have the flush mounted factory rails and installed an aftermarket rack like the Rhino-Rack kit including the cross bars # RRVA137B-2, Feet # RRRLKVA, and Custom Fit Kit # DK041. These bars have a capacity of 165 lbs, but you will still need to adhere to the lowest rated part of the rack, so you can only carry as much weight as the factory roof rails can handle. A canoe carrier like part # TH819 would work well with the crossbars. You will also want to note that it looks like 14ft would be the longest canoe length your vehicle would be able to carry.

The etrailer Cable Lock # e98891 would allow you to lock your canoe to your roof rack, whichever option you choose.

Additional information on the items I mentioned can be viewed at the links provided.
