Recommended Brake Controller And Wiring Adapter For 2004 Chevy Silverado 2500HD

Question:

I have a 2004 Chevy 2500hd and want to add a trailer brake controller. It has wiring to the rear already. What should I buy to add a trailer brake controller? Do you have any instructions for adding it? Thanks

To add a brake controller to your 2004 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD, I recommend using the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195. This is a proportional brake controller that will apply the same amount of pressure to your trailer brakes as you apply to the pedal in your Silverado and at the same time. It has a LCD screen that makes it easy to understand how the trailer is connecting and if there are any issues. It doesn't require any code deciphering.

You can connect this to your dash using the Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter for Electric Brake Controllers - GM # 3015-P. This plugs into the junction box under your dash to the left of your brake pedal. I've attached a video to help.
