Ball Mount Adapter that Allows Bike Rack to be Carried While Towing Trailer

Question:

I have a class 3 hitch: weight carrying ball mount rating = 3,500 lbs. Max. Gross Trailer Weight and Max. Tongue Wt. 350 lbs. My tow vehicle is a 2006 Honda Odyssey EXL minivan3.5L V6 MPI SOHC 24V. These class 3 hitch numbers match the manufacturers stated towing limits. I want to use a bike carrier while towing a camping trailer. The trailer is a LivinLite C11FK listed as 1,840 dry weight and a hitch weight of 165 lbs. So my question is if I add this D-192 adapter does that cut my max hitch weight down to 175 lbs.? If so, I wont be able to put any bikes on the rack because their weight will put me over my limit. Am I correct in this, or does the max hitch weight only apply to the trailer coupling weight?

The adapter you would need is the part # D210 as this has a ball mount platform on the bottom and a hitch opening on the top. Due to it's design this does not reduce the hitch capacity by 50 percent like the # D-192 would which would not be what I recommend for you.
