Troubleshooting Bestop Power Board Installation

Question:

I replaced the driver door sensor battery and did a reset under the guidance of one of your experts. The step was working fine for about three days now the step is acting sluggish goes up 1/4 of the way, or wont go up at all do I have to replace all the batteries every time one battery goes bad? Or do you think it is a sensor/ step motor problem?

If new batteries do not correct the issue with your Bestop Power Boards retracting only partially then I suggest you check the wiring on the system. An issue as simple as a slightly loose ground wire could be the cause. Road gremlins like salt can also cause corrosion of electrical contacts and these may require cleaning and re-installation. Even the battery contacts inside the sensor may need cleaning.

Any electrical connections can be protected after cleaning by using an application of dielectric grease # 11755.

The most common causes of PowerBoards not functioning are a bad ground, loose connection to the battery, a blown fuse, magnets that are too far away from the sensors, a bad connection with the receiver, and the low battery power in the sensors. Usually when a motor goes bad it goes all the way bad, so I expect the issue is in the wiring.
