Which Axle is Best if Only One Axle of Tandem Trailer Has Brakes

If you only put brakes one axle, does it make a difference which axle?

Which axle the brakes are on can make a pretty big difference. If they are on the front axle of a leaf spring suspension axle then that tends to cause a trailer to pitch forward. There are situations when it is more appropriate to have the brakes on the front axle.
Basically if they are torsion axles the brakes need to go on the front. If they are leaf spring axles then they should go on the rear.
