Will Adapter Plate on Pin Box Work With a Standard 5th Wheel Hitch
Question:
I have a short bed Chevy Diesel with a slide hitch - I have the adapter plate on my king pin Will this king pin plate prevent me from using a standard hitch? My father has a Ford F250 with an 8 foot bed and standard 5th hitch

If the King Pin that you have in the picture is part of a Sidewinder, like part # RP61412, then you will need to keep the wedge on the King Pin. The plate will help keep the pin box from rotating at the 5th wheel hitch by moving the pivot point to the turret, where the pin box attaches to the trailer. A Sidewinder can be used with a sliding 5th wheel hitch as well, as long as the the hitch remains in the forward locked position.
If the plate is on a standard pin box, like part # LC328330, then the plate will need to be removed so that it can properly work with a standard 5th wheel hitch.
