Expert Reply:
If you have the factory 4-way connector on the rear of your 1999 Ford F-250 you will also need the Tow Ready Ford Replacement OEM Tow Package Wiring Harness, 7-Way, part # 118242. It will give you a 7-way connector that is needed when installing the Tekonsha P3 Proportional Brake Controller # 90195 with Ford Adapter, part # 3035-P, on your vehicle.
The Tow Ready Wiring Harness # 118242 will install in-line with your factory wiring harness and allow you to keep your 4-way connector on the rear of your vehicle. It will include the relays and fuses that are needed to activate your towing system. This harness will plug into your factory connector that is located on the drivers side between the back tires and the end of the truck bed. I am including a link to the installation instructions on the Tow Ready wiring harness.
If you already have the factory 7-way connector on the rear of your vehicle you will just need the Tekonsha P3 Proportional Brake Controller # 90195 with Ford Adapter, # 3035-P. This will give you the brake controller and the Ford specific adapter that will plug into the back of the brake controller while the other end of the adapter plugs into the port located under the dash.
I am including a video link of the Tekonsha brake controller and Ford adapter being installed on a 2001 Ford F-150 and a link to the installation instructions.
