Recommended Reese Steadi-Flex Weight Distribution System for Trailer with 800 Pounds Tongue Weight
Question:
Hi, Im in the process of receiving a 2017 Rockwood 2403DS travel trailer. The trailers dry weight is approx. 5,500lbs. Tongue weight is 600lbs. Fully loaded Im guessing 6,500/800lbs. I will be towing with a 2013 Ford F150 V8 crew cab 4x4. Could you help me choose the right Reese Steadi-Flex WD hitch and ball to order? Thank You in advance for your help.

Your numbers are logical but if you'd like to find the exact tongue weight once you have the trailer you can use a tongue weight scale, # e99044.
To determine which Reese Steadi-Flex system to use you'll want to take your loaded trailer's tongue weight and add it to the amount of weight you have stored in your F-150's bed behind the rear axle. This will give you your total tongue weight.
If your loaded trailer's tongue weight is about 800 pounds then the 1,000-pound system, # RP66559, is likely appropriate. If you'll have a lot of weight behind the truck's rear axle, then you may want to increase to the 1,200 pounds # RP66560 or 1,400 pounds # RP66561.
The Steadi-Flex is a great system and my favorite to recommend. I have real life experience with it (See the attached video) and the sway control definitely does its job.
