Can a 4- to 7-Way Adapter be Used without Connecting the Loose Wires
Question:
Regarding the above adapter. The trailer I have has the 7 pole connector. It does not have any trailer brakes but does have interior lights. Can I use this adapter and not hook up the extra wires that come with this adapter and still have turn signals, running lights, and brake lights on the trailer? I am ok with not having the interior lights as I have an inlet on the outside of it for running power to it via any standard extension cord and have my own led shop lights that plug into outlets I have wired up in the trailer basically omitting the need for the trailers stock interior lights. And with no trailer brakes, I was trying to figure out the actual need to run 12v power from the battery if all I need is the trailers exterior lights to function proper. From my understanding the turn signals, running lights, and brake lights all work thru the 4 pole portion of the wiring. Please advise. Thanks!

Yes, you can use adapter # 30717, plug your 4-Way into it and ground the white wire, and you will have all the basic lighting functions on the trailer. The remaining wires can be taped up and stowed out of the way.
