What Does E1 Error Code on Reliance Brake Controller Mean

Question:

I have just put on a Reliance brake controller on a 2001 F350. I am getting an E1 on the screen when there is nothing hooked up to the truck and i bush in on the brake pedal. I was just wondering if that is normal or if i have wired something wrong? It seems like everything works correct when I have the trailer hooked up. Thanks

Everything is normal. The E1 error code on the Reliance brake controller indicates that a trailer is not connected. If the trailer WAS connected and you got the E1 code, a probable cause is a dirty trailer connector. Check the trailer connector on the trailer and on the vehicle. Clean out any dirt or corrosion. Corrosion can build up behind the connectors where the wires attach as well.
