Clearance Above Trailer Roof After Installing Rack'em Fitz-All Enclosed Trailer Ladder Rack RA-28
Question:
Your RA28 Roof racks for in closed trailers. How many come in a kit? I have a roof vent in the middle of trailer. How high do they extend above trailer. Im using it to carry a box 20inch long and about 250 lbs.

Part # RA-28, the Rack'em Fitz-All Enclosed Trailer Ladder Rack system, consists of two complete cross bars and the four mounting tabs needed to install them. The distance from the top of the crossbar down to the top of the mounting tab is 15-inches. The actual height of the bar above your roof vent depends on the specific vent, but I expect that virtually any trailer roof vent will easily clear the underside of the bars.
This rack's 400-lb capacity is plenty for your 250-lb box but you will definitely want to secure that cargo with tie-downs to ensure it does not move when up on your trailer roof. I linked our page for ladder rack tie down products like # IMF18821. You'll also want to check to be certain your trailer's roof can handle the weight load you intend to put on it.
