Recommended Bike Rack For 2008 Jeep Compass With No Trailer Hitch

Question:

I was told by two bike shops that I could not use this trunk rack on my Jeep Compass because of the top part of the Jeep that sticks out in the back, but I see on your videos and pictures that it is not an issue. I just want to be sure of that before buying one? Or what other options I would have without installing a trailer hitch. Thanks!

For your 2008 Jeep Compass, the Thule Passage 2 Bike Carrier - Trunk Mount # TH910XT is a confirmed fit. It can carry two 35 lbs max bikes. This is a hanging bike rack with cushioned anti-sway cradles and rubber straps to secure the bike in place and prevent bike to bike and bike to vehicle contact. It has soft rubber pads to protect your vehicle from damage while installed. I have attached a video of this rack on a 2016 Jeep Compass for comparison, but it is a confirmed fit for your 2008 model as well.

To keep this rack secure, I recommend using the Thule Passive Security Strap for Trunk Mounted Bike Carriers, # TH533. This connects to your rack and is closed into the locked cargo area. To further secure your bikes, I recommend a cable lock to run through your bike and the rack like # TH538XT. If you have any womens, children's, or alternative frame bikes, I recommend using a frame adapter like # 64005 to allow you to carry the bikes level and increase ground clearance.
