All of the gooseneck trailer hitches that fit your 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 with the short bed feature the ability to remove the hitch ball with just one person. There are a few different styles, however.
My top choice is the B&W Turnoverball # BWGNRK1067. This hitch uses a handle in the wheel well to lock and unlock the hitch ball. It will hold in place so you can unlock it, get into the truck bed, and then remove the ball. I prefer this hitch because of it's great quality and ability to be used with the Companion Fifth Wheel Adapter # BWRVK3400.
Another style are the Curt # C61652-652 and Draw-Tite # 8339-4434. The hitch balls on both of these can be folded into the hitch itself right from in the truck bed. The release handle is in the bed of your truck and the ball will fold down out of the way for when you're not using it.
